About
Hi, I’m Jason Hakala. I am a Korean American filmmaker and motion designer born in Hawai‘i and now based in Seattle.
I am the Co Founder and Head of Production at Cut.com, an online publication with over 30 million followers across social platforms. Before that, I served as Art Director at the creative agency Super Frog Saves Tokyo. My projects have been featured in outlets including TIME, AdAge, Vice, The Atlantic, and National Geographic.
Outside of work, I enjoy trail running, cycling, and traveling with my family. I have two kids and a big hearted Portuguese Water Dog named Jorge. And a fun bit of history: in 2012, I proposed to my wife Stella from space using an iPhone, a GoPro, and a weather balloon. The video even ended up on Australian news.
If you are interested in teaming up on a creative project, I am always open to connecting.
